When should I first take my child to the dentist?

It is best to come spontaneously, when the little patient does not actually have any problems. During the first visit, the child should be introduced to the working methods and equipment, and encouraged in the right way so that they are happy and ready to return next time.
The first intervention, which is completely painless and very acceptable to children, yet very important when it comes to prevention, is fissure sealing. Fissure sealing is considered a preventive procedure in dentistry. It protects the teeth from the development of cavities.
Sealing is recommended for children immediately after the eruption of the first permanent molars. It is a simple procedure that can greatly reduce the risk of cavities on permanent teeth. All permanent molars (sixes and sevens) as well as premolars (fours and fives) can be protected by sealing.
Of course, thorough oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist are essential, so that the sealants can be checked or replaced if necessary. This way, the possibility of developing cavities is avoided.

Fissure sealing is performed completely painlessly and without any “drilling” of the teeth. The teeth are cleaned and sealed with a composite material. The color of the seal matches the natural tooth color and does not affect the aesthetics of the smile.
The procedure is quick and includes cleaning the tooth surface to remove all food residues and prepare the tooth for sealing.

It is important to emphasize that children become ideal patients once they gain complete trust. With trust, they are willing to undergo even more complex procedures for their age under anesthesia, such as treating deep cavities, extracting baby teeth, and even dental treatments (which, in the case of baby teeth, usually involve pulpotomy).
